Past President

  Manzoor Tariq

  Dear APPNA St. Louis Members,

  Assalam-O-Alaikum.

it is indeed my pleasure to write this message to my APPNA family. I would like to congratulate the current APPNA STL EC for a successful year and, particularly, Dr. Mujtaba Qazi, the current President of our Chapter. There were several unique activities during this year. I am optimistic that our Chapter ‘s tradition to excel will continue.

APPNA Central and APPNA STL have to offer a great Summer Meeting during upcoming year. It is so heartwarming to see the enthusiasm, commitment, and dedication that reassures us that the APPNA STL com¬munity will prove to be the best host for the Summer Meeting and will make it the best meeting ever, Insha Allah. Most of you are already involved with the Host Committee, but if you want to help any way please do not hesitate to contact any one of host committee Chair-persons, members or myself. We need your suggestions, feedback, and any assistance.

Since the2010 Summer Meeting, the Flood has dev¬astated nearly 20 millions of our brothers and sisters in Pakistan. Many have no place to call their home. Others have lost everything. On behalf of APPNA, I would like to thank you all for your generosity and dedication for the people of Pakistan.

Ladies and Gentlemen, APPNA, here at home, is also facing a flood of challenges. One that stands out is the lapse in accounting. You must have received information about a letter from Attorney General of Illinois about AP¬PNA not filing its annual reports for years ending 2007 through 2009. I remain optimistic that APPNA will weather this storm with unity and strength. We have hired an Auditor who is working diligently to comply with the state requirement. The good that can come out of this chal¬lenge is that we pledge to avoid such lapses in the future in order to safeguard APPNA.

As the fall fades, the dawn of the New Year will be upon us soon. I have been working on the agenda for the year 2011 and will keep you informed about our progress. I look forward to your support, as together we can make APPNA what it needs to be. I would like to reiterate a few of my goals for upcoming year: Membership strength is very critical for any organiza¬tion and I intend to increase it. Membership packages will be ready to be forwarded to all of you at the beginning of the year. I would encourage all of you to persuade your Alumni/Chapter members to join APPNA.

Young Physicians are our future and I am planning to appoint a very dedicated and committed YPC to proac¬tively assist young physicians to secure visas and residency positions. On same lines, I have already requested a few dedicated members to compile a Directory of friendly Residency Program directors and faculty who can look favorably at our young physicians.

APPNA Institution is a long time dream of the mem¬bership. I plan to assign very dedicated members of AP¬PNA to work on a feasibility study of the project. MERIT is another important committee of APPNA and I would like to see it excel. APPNA needs to be financially and fiscally responsible. We will carefully look for long-term plans. APPNA is the voice of all Pakistani Physicians. United we will achieve the most for our membership, the people of Pakistan, and the communities we live in. I eagerly look forward to working with you and seek your support to achieve these goals.

  Thank for your attention.
